Review : Fox Launch Enduro Knee Pads

A month ago, having struggled with the tight sizing on some POC knee pads for 6 months, I decided enough was enough and sold on my current knee pads and decided to replace them. My only requirement was for a pad I could wear everywhere, not just at BPW and uplift days but during my regular 8 mile route around the local forest. This meant the pads had to be comfy and breathable, easy to chuck in the car and shove on my legs, not overkill for pedalling and easy enough to look after. I ride 3 days a week minimum in all conditions and the pads have to be able to keep up, if they fall apart after five mins they're no good to me!


I tried out a few different pairs and even tried on the 2014 POC knee pads, typically they've changed the sizing and the mediums now fit me perfectly. At £90-£100 for the POC I couldn't justify the same spend again, especially when I knew I didn't wear them all the time because of their bulk, its no good slipping into the mentality of 'I'm only riding 8 miles whats the worst that can happen'. In the end I settled on the Fox Launch Enduro Knee Pads for £45 from leisure lakes having gone to the shop and tried them on.

 I've been wearing them now for a months riding, although its not hugely long term its enough to give some proper feedback on how they work out.....

 Pros : Lightweight, good stable fit, perfect to pedal in, good support.
Cons : Not as much protection as other bulkier pads. 

 I wear these pads for every single ride no matter the conditions and really love them. They provide me with the confidence and reassurance that any tumbles and Ill be covered and wont earn even more scars to go on my legs. They're really comfortable and have never so much as slipped down my leg. I can hang them over the radiator to dry and wear them again the next day after a minor brush down with a stiff brush if they're filthy. In short I'd recommend them to anybody after a pad they can wear anywhere and anytime.

    Thank you!... I use the regular Fox Launch Knee/Shin pads and they slip a lot and are extremely bulky. I will purchase these for my everyday riding.

    I wear them throughout the year and although yeah my knees are warm when i take them off I'm never uncomfortable in terms of heat levels!

Inner zen like calm... sometimes solo is best!

I managed to achieve an inner zen like calm this evening! I'm not really sure exactly what caused it, it was probably a contribution of factors. Two chocolate bars, a bottle of coke and one of my favourite people to whistle away the afternoon probably aided the trance like state. It certainly wasn't the weather which got progressively worse as the day went on nor the bustling environment at work today... we only had a jaw dropping 10 people in work as of 09:00.  By the time 3pm came I had already decided I was going biking this evening, I didn't want to wait for anybody to come with me, I was going solo! During the twenty minutes it took me to get loaded and be on my way an ominous cloud had taken place above me and the heavens had well and truly opened. Every time I even dared to look at Ziva she started shivering, clearly she thought we were barking mad! This didn't phase me and I continued as normal, grabbed my osprey cover and my waterproof jacket, slyly convinced...
